“I’ve learned that things change, people change, and it doesn’t mean you forget the past or try to cover it up; it simply means that you move on and treasure the memories. Letting go doesn’t mean giving up, it means accepting that some things weren’t meant to be.”
Wow, I really
can’t believe my first semester is over. Coming to Southern Connecticut
University, I can say that I was not looking forward to it. This school was not
my first choice but I am more then happy to be here. When you come to college
you need to learn and quickly get your priorities straight. Living at home
during my high school years I didn’t have much freedom. My parents were
stricter on me then my brother because of course since I was the first girl.
Coming to college I experienced girls going crazy once you get that first lick
of freedom people make some not so good decisions. I would have to say my
failures this semester would have to be the fact would be my focus and putting
myself first. Sometimes I would go out on a Thursday then rather than getting
ahead on my homework, because I knew I did not have to worry about class on
Fridays. My successes I would have to say would be finding out about who I am
and the things I want in life. Today I sat appreciating with the things that
turned me into the person I have become. College opened my eyes with now I am
on my own but everything I do is from my past. I grew up, I matured and became
more independent then I use to be. My
family made me thick skinned and to not care what people think of me. I stuck
with the lessons I learned. When I want something I try to achieve everything
or more. I love college and the impact is has on me as a person. I always take
everything and keep it into a positive light. From even negatives from a low
grade, losing friendship and having bad relationships. I make into a positive by
showing me negatives make who you are and make you do better then your past.

Southern Fitness Center
Southern Fitness Center, I went and visited it and I can
say I was not so please. I guess it is from the fact I work in a gym back at
home and have a membership for free and it has more variety machines. But if it
was free I probably going there everyday it is very nice I can say and I like
the fact that it has classes that you can take. And next Spring Semester the
gym is bringing a dress code so be prepared.

Time For Change
For my last project I decided I am
going to make another video. During this freshman year first semester I can say
I have learned a lot. From how to make time for homework, Studying and changing
as a person. This freshman year I have grown up a lot. It is crazy to look at
the person I was in high school and see myself in college. As a person I
struggle with putting my friends aside and living for myself rather then
thinking of someone first. College puts you through many obstacles. Living at
home I would go to school and worked, that was it. Living on campus I gained a
whole lot a freedom. Sometimes I got side tracked and loss focus. When I came
to college it was a whole other level of freedom. From school, to my outside
life, to relationship. I have learned a lot about myself I am now more mature,
funny, strong girl. I have my head set on straight and know where I want to go.
So for my video I want to make it a bit educational teach what I have been
taught. When you come to college I feel like you sometimes need to be taught
different then what you have been taught in high school. For instance, I had
very bad high school habits of not studying all the time and winging my
homework and waiting till last minute. In my video I want to show my proof how
my grades have change from learning and being taught how to change these habits
in college. I always need to make sure I have a Clear beginning middle in end. I
came a long way from my video projects I learned how to make them way better. So
I am more then ready to work hard and make this video better then all my
others.

Roomie Probs 101
Making up a skit, with this video project. I chose the scenario
on roommate problems. I think living on campus is one of the best things to do.
College dorming is an amazing experience. But sometimes you are faced with the
factor of having a roommate that you might not get along with especially with
becoming a freshman. Your most likely paired with someone who you do not know.
Either you and your roommate can get along or sometimes you guys are totally opposites
and don’t click. You and your roommate will be spending most of your time
together so it is what you make the best of it. See becoming a freshman this
year I was very fortunate I got into a suite in West campus. So I have my own
room and have a bathroom that has to be shared with one of my suite mates. But even
that I had one room open in my suite and until the third week a school. I got a
roommate who I can say at time got me mad because she’s very loud at times at
night when I had a class. I know I shouldn’t complain but in our suite if you’re
in the hallway it echoes right into our rooms. So the first two weeks with
living with her she would be very loud on the nights I had 8:10 classes. It really
irked my nerves. She also would use my suite mates and my bathroom when she had
her own. May seems silly for me to get annoyed at the fact but since I am the
own buying the toilet paper and it was just running out so fast I needed to do
something. She wasn’t clean had the suite smelling weird from left out food. So
first I cleaned up the mess and the finally I had to speak my mind and talk to
her. Ever since there is times when you don’t get along but it has gotten 90
percent better.
The Creative Habit..
The Creative Habit by Twyla Tharp teaches a lot on how to be
creative. I considered myself to be very creative. I always liked to paint
ceramics and do hands on projects. This
book had you try out different exercises and put you to the test. My favorite exercise
was in fact living a week without. Twyla Tharp wrote her book very different
and I can say creative. She would change the font by color and size. The Spine
was a very drawing chapter. Towards
every task you do you need an outline. For example, with my INQ class and our
video projects you need to have an outline (the spine). The first video I did I
didn’t have an outline, but I learned my lesson. I make sure to have my outline
and clear beginning and end. With having “the spine” it keeps you focus and
straight to you’re topic and also helps knowing your topic so you don’t waste
time going off topic. Another thing that kept me interested that she wrote
about was leaving things off on a high note. Leaving things off on a good note
you save yourself from dwelling on the past. When you do something go out with
bang and be proud of the work you do. I can say coming to college I have done
work I am not proud of it and when I go to work on a different thing I dwell on
that last project. But with my work now I make sure to try and put my all so I can
put my all in and be proud and for my next time I know what I have to do to get
high grades. When you achieve something you work hard for you feel unstoppable
and you keep working to achieve more.
