In “The Creative Habit” on pages 26 and 27 I did the exercise
give me one week without. So I wanted to put self to a challenge and see what I
can go without. I decided to go without any kind of social networks. For
instance, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. I can say I am addicted to my phone
because I am always on it especially since it is an iPhone I use all the social
networking apps. I don’t like to be out of the loop. I need to see every post
on Facebook, read ever tweet on Twitter, and I cannot miss a single picture on
Instagram. My social networking use has got to the point that I went over my
phone data plan use. So reading this exercise I thought it was a perfect
challenge to try. I love challenges and I was more then up to it. So Sunday
morning I deleted each and every single social networking app. It has not been
a full week yet but this has been more then challenging. I noticed that I am
off my phone less. My phone battery actually last longer. And I am not worried
about my phone as much I use to be. I don’t know why I let social networking
run my life. Social networking sometimes causes unwanted drama that is not
needed. It has its flaws and I am noticing that now since I have been off this
past weeks. You worry more about what people think about you for example
instagram the reason you put a picture up is to get likes. On twitter you worry
about how many followers you have, if your tweet has been getting retweeted
about someone. Facebook with how many friends you have. What happened to don’t care
about what others think of you? These social networks are causing people to
being less realistic and people talk more through that but when they see
someone in person they can go without exchanging a word. I loved the fact that I
decided to do this exercise.
